Cole Allen Identified as Suspect in White House Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting: 31-Year-Old California Teacher Named

WASHINGTON — The man accused of opening fire at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday night has been identified as Cole Allen of Torrance, California, with President Trump describing him as a likely “lone wolf” attacker who “looked pretty evil.”

Federal law enforcement sources say the 31-year-old was taken into custody after allegedly entering the Washington Hilton and charging toward the packed ballroom, where Trump and roughly 2,500 guests had gathered for the high-profile event.

Gunfire erupted near the indoor security screening area shortly after 8:30 p.m.—just as dinner service was underway. Secret Service agents quickly moved the president out of the room, while cabinet members and attendees ducked under tables before being safely evacuated.
